The family of 59-year-old Dennis Tim Cheney is mourning today because of a senseless accident that never should have taken place.  Friday afternoon, around 5:30 p.m., 32-year-old Adrienne Marie Larsen of Boise, Idaho was intoxicated when driving on Oregon Route 86. That is located just east of the milepost 302 interchange along Interstate 84.

According to KTVB, Larsen crossed the right fog line while heading westbound striking Cheney immediately killing him.  The accident shut down the highway for more than four hours and just about every type of emergency crew was dispatched to the crash.  The Oregon Department of Transportation, Baker County Sheriff’s Office, Baker County District Attorney’s Office, Baker City Fire Department, Baker Rural Fire Protection District, and Baker City Ambulance all assisted OSP with the response and crash investigation.

Larsen is facing charges of DUII (driving under the influence of intoxicants), first- and second-degree manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide, and reckless endangerment.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family of Dennis Cheney.
