Boise State's baseball program is becoming more of a reality with the announcement of its new coach, Gary Van Tol.
According to the Idaho Statesman, the former Boise Hawks manager, will be announced as the new head coach in a press conference scheduled for 3 p.m. today.
Who is Gary Van Tol?
According to the Statesman, Van Tol-who's lived in the Treasure Valley since '08-was the Boise Hawks Manager in 2013 and 2014 where they went 41-35 AND made the playoffs both seasons.
He's got experience coaching in the collegiate level too, serving as a head coach at "Treasure Valley Community College in Ontario, Oregon, and Centralia (Wash.) College and as an assistant coach at Portland and Gonzaga."
According to the Statesman, the program-which was shut down in 1980-will be back in 2020; so we have some time to wait. But, in the last seven months, they unveiled their uniforms, and even found a site for an on-campus baseball field.
