KTVB reports on the NFL draft and our good ole' Idaho boy, Leighton Vander Esch, linebacker for the Boise State Broncos was taken at number 19 in the first round by the Dallas Cowboys.

Getting drafted in the first round usually means money, money, money and you will, at some point probably get a legitimate shot at playing time and a chance to be a big time role player in the National Football League.  It looks like Esch will get that chance with the all-time most popular team in NFL football, the Dallas Cowboys.

Leighton received the phone call from Jerry Jones, owner of the Dallas Cowboys and head coach Jason Garrett prior to the announcement at the draft so he had a bit of a heads up.  Leighton said...

I'm so excited to get going, I don't think it can get any better.  This is where I want to be my whole time

This is another win for the entire BSU program who consistently sends players to the big time and it's a big win for Leighton and his family.  We wish you the best Leighton.  Can't wait to watch you take the NFL by storm.
