I Thought Idahoans Hated California, Why Are They Moving There?
In the last couple of years, there's been the highest ever recorded numbers of people (all over the country) moving to different states. More Idahoans are leaving Idaho than ever before, and people from other states are moving here more than ever before — at least that's how it feels.
However, the numbers from 2019-2020 are some of the lowest numbers for people moving states. There's a recent article from Stacker that says...
"The U.S. is among the most mobile countries in the world, but our rates of moving have slumped in recent decades. In 2019, for example, a lower percentage of Americans changed residence than any year prior since 1947 when migration statistics were first gathered by the Census Bureau. Between March of 2019 and 2020, just 9.3% of Americans moved."
Either way, and whatever the numbers, we're just shocked that California managed to make it into the TOP 5 states that people from Idaho are moving to the most. This article from Stacker has a detailed list of 40 states (in order) where people from Idaho move to the most, and California was #4.

Here's what Stacker shared about California...
- Moved from Idaho to California in 2019: 4,372
--- 8.0% of residents that moved
- Moved from California to Idaho in 2019: 17,722
--- #11 most common destination from California
And we're assuming by 2023 these numbers have now drastically increased.
