It started with a car going the wrong direction and ended with a woman and a child dead.

The tragic crash happened just after 7 p.m. last night in Jerome.

36-year-old Brian Trappen was driving eastbound in the westbound lanes. An underage driver swerved and rolled, landing in the eastbound lanes of I-84 and that's when things went really bad.

The Dodge, driven by the juvenile, collided with a Camry and then tragically hit by a semi-truck.

Another vehicle traveling westbound crashed headed on into Trappen's pickup, and then another car slammed into the back of that car, causing a huge pile-up that shut down the freeway for 4-5 hours.

According to KTVB, the underage driver who was in the Dodge and a passenger in the Dodge who has been identified as 51-year-old Maricruz Lenhart both died at the scene.

Another passenger, identified as 48-year-old Francisco Delatorre of Middleton was thrown from the van.

Please keep all of the people involved in this horrific crash in your thoughts and prayers. It's another reminder how fragile this life is.
