Los Angeles has most recently been the target for earthquakes but our neighbors over in Oregon just got hit with a 5.3 magnitude earthquake this morning (Wednesday) at approximately 8 o'clock.

KTVB just came out with some information on this and it's a little different than most but these types of earthquakes sometimes are even more dangerous and cause more damage.  Fortunately, that's not the case with this earthquake.

The tremor hit the ocean floors.  Often times this results in tsunamis but that is NOT the case in this situation as far as we know.  The earthquake hit 150 miles off of the Southern Oregon Coast which seems like a long way but when these tremors are big enough they build and carry all the way to coastlines causing massive damage.

Again, no tsunami is expected to hit Oregon.
