A brush fire broke out in the Boise foothills on Friday evening. Crews responded quickly when the blaze was reported about 8:30 pm.

The fire was in the area of Hill Road and Plano Lane. As of midnight, the fire was still burning and had consumed about 200 acres of brush and dry grasses. Crews from the BLM, Eagle and Boise Fire Departments were battling the blaze.

Luckily for the firefighters and the residents of 10 nearby homes, the wind cooperated last night and wasn't much of a factor in the fire spreading. Several homes were evacuated, but as of last night, no structures were affected.

Crews were hoping to have the fire out by Saturday morning.

Great job to the men and women who helped fight the blaze and get it under control so quickly.
