There are several fires raging through the state, and with the threat of wildfires in our area always present, officials have decided it's time to set some fire restrictions to prevent any human-caused fires that could potentially burn thousands of acres, destroying homes, or worse take someone's life.

According to KTVB, the Bureau of Land Management, the U.S. Forest Service and the Idaho Department of Lands have announced Stage 1 fire restrictions for Southeast Idaho. The ban will go in effect Friday (8/3) at 12:01 a.m. It will restrict outdoor activities like building campfires outside designated recreation sites (fires only permitted within a permanent concrete or metal fire ring). It will remain in place until further notice.

The restrictions apply to the following areas (via KTVB.com):

- Ada, Boise, Canyon, Gem, Elmore, Owyhee, Payette, Valley, and Washington counties

- All Bureau of Reclamation lands surrounding Mann Creek Reservoir in Washington County

- All Bureau of Reclamation lands surrounding Lake Cascade in Valley County

- All Bureau of Reclamation lands surrounding Arrowrock and Anderson Ranch reservoirs in Boise and Elmore counties
