This is so exciting! The Boys & Girls Club in Garden City is getting a super awesome upgrade thanks to an amazing $1.5 million donation from the J.A. and Kathryn Albertson Foundation . According to KTVB, they held a groundbreaking ceremony yesterday for their new kitchen and cafeteria which will accommodate up to 300 kids which will make it much easier to serve the "approximately 220,000 free healthy meals every school year."

The Boys & Girls Club of Ada county Executive Director, Colleen Braga, says they're serving about 600 meals a day. The new digs will have a ton of space for dry storage, will include a walk-in freezer and cooler, PLUS (this is pretty awesome), "steaming equipment, [and] hot-holding equipment" that will help them develop their meal programs. According to KTVB, the kitchen and cafeteria should be completed in August. They even plan to share the new space with the new STEM-based charter school opening next door to serve even more kids!
