Earlier today we reported on a major pileup car crash on Interstate 84 in the Jerome County area that involved four different semi trucks and two smaller vehicles.  Investigators say the accident was caused by a sudden dust storm that came out of nowhere and added to the heavy rains and wind completely covering the westbound lanes of I-84.

KTVB reports that there were a lot of serious injuries and unfortunately one death.  52-year-old Douglas Megargle who lived in Jerome, Idaho and was an employee of Idaho Fish and Game died from his injuries at the scene of the accident.

When visibility dropped to next to nothing there were vehicles that stopped on the freeway and that's when the pileup began.  Following vehicles couldn't see them and crash after crash occurred leaving a lot of people injured and of course, Megargle dead.

Idaho Fish and Game said this about Megargle and his passenger 60-year-old Sally Rose who's currently in the hospital with injuries...

Megargle was the Magic Valley Regional Fisheries Manager and  had worked at the department for 22 years.  Rose is the Offices Services Supervisor for the Magic Valley Region and an 18-year Fish and Game employee.

As friends and colleagues, our thoughts and prayers are with Sally, and with Doug’s family, during this difficult time.  Doug was a respected fishery professional who I have personally worked with for many years, and I am heartbroken about this tragedy. Sally is a leader among our administrative support staff, and we will do everything we can to support her recovery.
