An Idaho family mourns the loss of their loved one today after he was hit and killed while walking across Highway 20.

The Idaho State Police report that the accident took place at approximately 12:30 p.m. this afternoon on the eastbound side of Highway 20 near exit 310 which is close to Idaho Falls.

For some reason, 75-year-old Jostin D. Talcot was trying to cross the highway from the right shoulder of the eastbound lanes to get to the westbound side.  Unfortunately, while crossing, Talcot was immediately struck by a 2016 Honda CRV, driven by 41-year-old Carla A. Killian.  Talcot died from his injuries right there on the spot before emergency crews had a chance to help him.  His immediate family has been notified.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to them.

U.S. Highway 20 was shut down for almost two hours as clean up and investigating took place.  The Highway is currently completely open.
