Overcorrection on Idaho Highway Causes Fatal Crash Over the Weekend
Two Weekend Crashes Under Investigation In Idaho
Idaho State Police are investigating two separate crashes from the weekend. There was a fatal rollover near Hagerman and a vehicle versus bicycle collision in American Falls. One man died at the scene, and a 52-year-old bicyclist was taken to the hospital with injuries.
Hagerman Man Dies After Overcorrection on US-30
Idaho State Police say a Hagerman man died Friday morning after losing control of his pickup on US Highway 30 in Gooding County.
The crash happened at about 10:15 a.m. on November 21, near milepost 185. A 57-year-old man from Hagerman was driving a white 2015 Ford F-350 when his truck drifted and scraped a guardrail next to the westbound lane.
ISP reports that the driver then overcorrected to the left, crossed into the eastbound lanes, went off the road, and the truck overturned. The pickup came to rest on its top on private property next to the highway.
The driver was wearing a seat belt and died at the scene. The crash is still being investigated.
Bicyclist Injured in American Falls Intersection Crash
Later that same day, Idaho State Police responded to a vehicle versus bicycle crash in American Falls that sent a local woman to the hospital.
The accident happened about 8:20 p.m. on November 21 at the intersection of Pocatello Avenue and Hillcrest Avenue. ISP reports that a juvenile was driving a blue 2005 Lexus RX southbound on Hillcrest, while a 52-year-old woman from American Falls was riding her bicycle westbound on Pocatello.
The Lexus hit the bicyclist in the intersection. She was not wearing a helmet and was taken by ground ambulance to a local hospital with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.
