Idahoans Trying to Call 911 Goes to Wrong Number

Imagine being in a state of emergency, calling 911 and not getting the emergency dispatch you expect. In life's most desperate times, every second counts, but Idahoans are finding that their phones are sending them to the wrong place! Here's what's going on. 

When you tell some Android or Google Smartphones in Idaho to call 911 it pulls up a list of ambulance companies instead of emergency services. According to an article in the Idaho Statemen, ambulance dispatchers get these miss directed calls several times a week. It has nothing to do with the state of Idaho and everything to do with the type of phone you have, but it is happening here and it's something we need to all be aware of and prepared for.

The mistake happens when people use voice command to call an ambulance. Instead of saying "Hey Siri, call an ambulance" you need to say, "Hey Siri, call 911" specifically.

Ambulance companies can't just come to your rescue, you need to take the proper measures and make sure you are calling 911.

As they say, knowledge is power, so let your children and people around you know that this is a common mistake that can cost life-saving seconds, so say it properly if you need to, "CALL 911!!"
