Statistics show that Christmas week is the deadliest week in Idaho when it comes to automobile accidents and unfortunately this year seems to be no different.  Another tragic incident took place in the early hours of this morning just after midnight when 20-year-old Manuel Sanzon was outside of his vehicle on the eastbound side of US 20 at milepost 318 near County Line Road.  Sanzon and his passenger were both attempting to change their front left tire when WHAM!  Both of them hit by a 2017 Toyota RAV4.

The driver of the RAV4 was 26-year-old Kelsy Johnson of Rigby, Idaho.  No word on what went wrong or why the men from Idaho Falls were struck yet.  According to East Idaho News, Sanzon died at the scene of the crash.  No word yet on the condition of the passenger who was also struck outside the vehicle, 18-year-old Israel Dewey.  We can only hope that he's ok.

US 20 was shut down for approximately three hours and a full investigation is taking place.  Again, our thoughts and prayers go out to all those involved.
