We're in the middle of one of the most dangerous wildfire seasons in recent memory as wildfires rattle the state of Oregon to its core.

The people of Boise and surrounding areas are feeling the effects as well.

Drastic times call for drastic measures

Whether we're happy with their plan or not, Idaho Power is doing everything in its power (no pun intended) to prevent things going from bad to worse.

That plan included notifying customers across the area about the possibility of a power outage.

Due to extreme weather conditions and wildfire risk in Ada County--including wind gusts that are forecasted to be as high as 50 to 70 mph--Idaho Power MAY need to shut off your power ... If necessary, the outage would begin in the next few hours and could last 12-24 hours. The length of an outage varies based on storm damage and the time it takes to patrol the line to ensure we can safely re-energize it. If an outage occurs, we will provide additional information to you.

Look, you have to give them credit for giving us all a heads-up. Many customers also received a notification from Idaho Power the day before so residents could brace themselves for the possibility of being without power.

They even acknowledged the unpredictability of yesterday's weather while also reminding people of the big picture: safety.

Rapidly changing conditions could affect shutoff timing, and unplanned weather-related outages might also occur. Thank you for your patience as we work to keep our communities safe. Visit idahopower.com/psps for the latest information and preparedness tips, or call 1-800-488-6151

In case you weren't aware, active powerlines that catch fire, fall from wind, etc. can be extremely dangerous and spark more fires. Why would anyone want that?

Rightfully so, some people were upset and on the other hand, some were very understanding. How did the power outages make YOU feel?

Here are some of the reactions we saw on social media.
