Meridian Food Bank Receives Big Gift from Local Business
The Meridian Food Bank got a big surprise from a local business that will allow them to continue making a big impact in the community.
According to KTVB, Idaho Roofing Contractors donated a brand new roof to the food bank; a project that could've cost them about $10,000! The old roof was leaking, and without a fix, could've caused "parts of the building [to be] unusable and has the potential of causing even more damage."
Idaho Roofing Contractors sales manager, Corky Kopp, says they “feel blessed in the projects we've been able to do throughout the valley and we wanted to help out with a company that's such a good cause like the Meridian Food Bank."
The building that was updated is used to store donations for a program with the West Ada School District. The 'backpack program' provides kids with food insecurities: "Two dinners, two breakfasts, two lunches and some snacks" to last through the weekend.
According to KTVB, the Meridian Food Bank provides about 20,000 of these meals to kids in need every school year.
