The moose was spotted Tuesday morning on the Warm Springs Golf Course and led officials on a chase as it moved back and forth between the Greenbelt, Park Center Boulevard and golf course before being darted Tuesday afternoon. The moose had become "agitated," according to the Idaho Department of Fish and Game, and they feared it could injure itself and people.

F&G officials described it as a yearling female, and said it was likely recently parted from its mother because the mother and yearlings separate this time of year. Officials planned to move the moose up into the Foothills to release it.

The moose was first spotted Tuesday at about 6:30 a.m. Warm Springs Golf Course general manager Scott McGeachin said it is the first moose in the 18 years he has been at Warm Springs.

Moose are occasional visitors to the Treasure Valley, but not as common as deer, elk, bear and mountain lion. Moose typically prefer forests and wet areas such as marshes and meadows, however, they also tend to roam over large areas, and the animal may have been attracted to the lush vegetation near the Boise River.
