I'm a big fan of scary movies! My craze started back in 1996 when I watched Wes Craven's "Scream." I loved the emotions that ran through me. The suspense, the fear, the nervousness in my tummy; it became addicting! Almost every weekend my friend Suzanne and I would go to the video store (yes, they had those back then, VCR's too!) and we would sneak scary movies to watch in my bedroom. My parents would have killed us had they known! So, as an ode to my scary movie days, here are my...

Top 10 Favorite Scary Movies!

  1. Scream (We've already discussed this was the movie that started it all, but I loved the sequels as well. I thought Skeet Ulrich and Mathew Lillard were so dreamy and I thought Courtney Cox and David Arquette were so cute together! Ha!)
  2. The Exorcist (I know, it's disturbing! I was forbidden to watch it as a teenager, so I just had to watch it! It's like that red button you aren't supposed to touch.)
  3. The Amityville Horror (Classic 70's horror movie. A very haunted house, Margot Kidder, and rumor has it that it's based on a true story!)
  4. Audrey Rose (I know this sounds crazy, but I think this movie is actually funny. It's pretty cheesy, not super scary, but I have to watch it every year. I love the 70's horror flicks! This one is about a girl who becomes reincarnated. If you haven't seen it, it's worth checking out!)
  5. Halloween (Can you even get through the Halloween season without watching this one? It's just not right if you do! Jamie Lee Curtis "the scream queen," Michael Myers, and there's always that cliffhanger at the end. The sequels are equally good.)
  6. Rosemary's Baby (I always think of this movie when I think of Mia Farrow. No one could pull off short hair like her. Again, this movie is pretty disturbing. She gives birth to Satan's child, but it's a classic.)
  7. Arachnophobia (We're moving back into the 90's now. I like that this one is only rated PG-13 so it's more appropriate for a younger crowd, but man I still look for spiders in the shower.)
  8. The Silence of the Lambs (Does it get any creepier than Hannibal Lecter? I'll be honest, I couldn't sleep for nights after this movie and I'll never look at Anthony Hopkins the same!)
  9. Carrie (Again, I must have a really weird sense of humor, because I think this movie is kind of funny in parts. Sissy Spacek  does a great job. I felt so bad for her!)
  10. The Birds (We're going all the way back to 1963 with this one, but Alfred Hitchcock's classic has forever left me scared of birds. I loved it!)

I dare you to make it through these 10 movies this season!
