Parts of I-84 are currently being shut down and blocked off so that more than 1,000 motorcycles can take their yearly ride from Meridian to Mountain Home.

It's the 8th annual Patriot Thunder ride which benefits military families.  At 11 a.m. you'll hear choppers kicking on those engines on Eagle Road and following their escort from the Boise Police Department to Carl Miller Park in Mountain Home.

To keep things safe, officers will reduce freeway speeds and block off parts of I-84 to keep the traffic limited.  On-ramps from Garrity Road to Exit 95 in Mountain Home will be temporarily blocked, as will Franklin Road, the Wye Interchange (I-84/I-184), and the I-184 connector between 13th Street and I-84.

The ride will conclude at about 12:30 p.m. and full freeway access will start back up at 1 p.m.
