Boise drivers are encouraged to find an alternate route following a serious crash at Fairview and Mitchell on Thursday morning. According to police, the accident was a "motorcycle versus vehicle crash."

Are The Roads Safe Enough For Idaho Motorcycle Riders?

In one of the photos shared by Boise police, we can see what looks to be the impacted motorcycle on the ground.

We don't have what has happened as the investigation is ongoing, but the sad news sparked a discussion in the comment section about motorcycle safety in the Treasure Valley:

Is there a safety concern for motorcycle riders in the Treasure Valley?

Back on March 19 of this year, Idaho State Police released a statement regarding the "serious public safety concern" about riding and urged riders to ride responsibly.

"Last year, District 3 troopers engaged in nine motorcycle pursuits, not including numerous instances where riders fled," Idaho State Police shared. "Troopers chose not to pursue due to public safety concerns."

According to the Idaho Transportation Department, District 3 covers 22,000 square miles of southwest Idaho and maintains 2,647 lane miles, 399 bridges, 10 southwest counties, and around 40% of the state's population.

Idaho State Police said in their March press release that the ITD crash data for District 3 and the Treasure Valley revealed 295 motorcycle crashes in 2024, which resulted in 13 fatalities and 247 injuries.

Is this a problem with how bike riders are riding, how drivers treat bike riders, or a combination of both?

Is there a personal experience you've had while riding your motorcycle on the road that shows another side to the story? Have you ever encountered a dangerous rider while in a "regular" motor vehicle?
