Poisoning at ADA County Jail

This woman is accused of putting cleaning powder in another inmates coffee!

I've been watching the Netflix series Orange is the New Black lately. Since I've never been to jail before, I'm not sure if its an accurate depiction or not, but I do know I've learned a few things about the system.

1. Don't make enemies! It will come back to bite you!

2. Don't insult the cooking staff or they will mess with your food!

In this case, 41 year old Rocio Contreras-Loya got in a fight with another inmate back on November 23, 2014 and Rocio got back at the inmate by putting a white cleaning powder used to clean floors in this inmates coffee! Both the intended victim and another inmate took sips of the coffee before they realized it had been tainted.

Rocio denied putting the powder in the coffee but upon inspection they found a small amount of white powder mixed in with her instant coffee and some of the powder was found inside a paper bowl. Security cameras also show Rocio going through the inmates bin before the poisoning.

Luckily, both victims were treated and suffered no permanent damage.

Rocio is now facing a felony charge of food poisoning and faces another potential 10 years in prison. For more information on this story click HERE.
