According to Idaho Fish and Game, there's only one kind of rattlesnake in our beloved Idaho and that is the Western Rattlesnake.  And that's the exact snake people are spotting right now in the foothills of Boise.

Western Rattlesnakes are known as one of the most docile types of rattlers but they can still pack a punch if and when they bite you.  Rocky terrain is where you'll most likely find them.  Places like Table Rock or the foothills but they also show up in people's yards and other areas where there's bushes, rocks or anything else they can hide behind.

If you're hiking or running please be careful and look behind objects such as rocks and bushes before stepping over them.  If you have a dog with you, please keep your dog on a leash unless he or she is trained to stay away from rattlesnakes.

If you get bit by a rattlesnake, move as little as possible and call for help immediately.  Quick action saves lives and remaining calm and still keeps the poison from spreading rapidly through your body.

This weekend we're warming up here in the Treasure Valley which means more people out and YES, snakes will be out too.  Please be cautious when you go for that nice jog, hike, or trail exploring.  Always keep safety at the top of your priorities.
