Scammers Pretending to be Meridian Police

When it comes to phone scams, there are all kinds. A recent one, however, has folks thinking the Meridian Police department is demanding money!

According to police, there have been several complaints from residents claiming they're receiving calls from the Meridian Police Department claiming the residents have either an outstanding warrant, unpaid tickets, or have missed jury duty. In order to avoid arrest, they had to wire money immediately. Unfortunately some residents fell into the trap and most like won't be seeing their money back in their wallets.

Ok, first of all, law enforcement departments WILL NEVER contact you threatening you with an arrest if you don't dish out the cash. Hard-earned money down the drain because of scammers. If you're ever feeling a little off about a phone call you receive, better safe than sorry, just hang up and contact authorities.
