Should This Old Man From Twin Falls Stand Trial?

This 87-year-old man is accused of fatally shooting a Twin Falls woman and will not face trial because he is unfit to do so.

Yesterday afternoon a judge ruled that Paul Robert Welch is not competent to stand trial for the murder of 81-year-old Barbara Sue Chitwood.  Chitwood was found dead at the home her and Welch shared.  Cause of death is a gunshot wound to her head.

Welch has been ordered to go to undergo psychiatric treatment to restore his competency.
