This story could not get more gut-wrenching. The two teens killed in the crash Sunday that also killed a Nampa man on U.S. 30 are brother and sister.

15 year old Eric Neibaur and his sister, 13 year old Lauren were killed in a horrific crash on Father's Day.

Their father, also named Eric, says they were as most siblings are, the best of friends and the best of enemies. He talks to the Idaho Statesman about how they loved to torture each other and how they loved each other very much.

He married their mother, Bobbi, when the kids were very young and later adopted Eric and Lauren.

Their mother recalls how they would "play for hours on end until one of them got hurt or upset."

Just a year apart in school, Eric would have been a sophomore and Lauren an incoming Freshman at Century High School this fall.

She was a gymnast and he was a football player. This past weekend the family was riding dirt bikes together in Big Springs which is just east of Inkom.

On Sunday their lives would be changed forever. The head-on collision also claimed the life of 70 year old Nampa resident Jay Lanningham.

Eric was behind the wheel of a red 1999 Chevy C1500 pickup, Lauren was in the passenger seat when for reasons unknown Eric crossed the center line and hit Lanningham head on.

A friend of the family explained the tragedy in the only way that makes any sense. Heather Ross says the only reason God took both of them is because he couldn't take just one. Because one couldn't live without the other.
