So, I've ALWAYS dreamed about hosting Thanksgiving. Now that we're in our own home, that dream will become a reality a week from tomorrow. But, I'm REALLY REALLY nervous.

Reason #1: I'm an awful cook. Like, I just don't really try. Yes, I burn toast. But I'm good at following directions, so I'm hoping if I stick to the plan, it'll be alright.

Reason #2: I go overboard. I love planning parties, but I do admit, that sometimes I just go a little too far with making sure everything is "perfect" that I end up getting stressed, or not enjoying the party.

Reason #3: The cleanup. uuuuuugggggghhhh. Luckily, the first purchase I made for the event was paper plates hehe.

The reason I'm telling you this is because I need your help. I need to know if you have any tips on hosting a Thanksgiving feast. Little details that are a must? Foods to stay away from? Maybe your best easy recipes -that I can't screw up?

Here are some of the side dishes I'm planning to make next week *I'm still searching for the perfect turkey/stuffing recipe, so send 'em my way*:

    Funeral Potatoes

    Hashbrown Casserole

These sound deadly, but they are absolute heaven. Well, when someone else made them haha. I've heard they served them at Cracker Barrel too. I'm trying to convince myself not to order a big batch and claim them as my own. :)

Check out the recipe I found HERE.

    Deviled Eggs

    With Bacon of course

These are kind of a staple, and let's be real, I'll probably buy the 5 dozen package and have 3 dozen to myself. I'm making half a little more traditional, and the other half I'll be adding a little spice AND avocado to 'em.

    Carmalized Brussel Sprouts and Carrots

Probably the only thing I make that isn't awful

I saw this on the Food Network once and thought I'd give it a try. When I do take these to parties, everyone seems to like them, so they're legit my go-to side dish for the rest of my life lol.

Let's be real though, it's really not that hard to mess up anything that has butter and sugar haha.

Here's a recipe for these, but all I do is:

Sautee the brussels sprouts and carrots in butter until they're browned. Then add the brown sugar and cover the pan (stirring occasionally) until they're tender.

Once they are tender, I bring up the heat to get rid of the moisture, until the sugar is a little gooey. SOOO GOOD!

    Pumpkin Pie Sugar Cookies

I'm not a huge fan of pumpkin anything, but I am a fan of sugar cookies; so I figured this would be a great compromise.

    Check out the recipe HERE.
