They Walk Among Us
Where DOES chocolate milk come from? Brown cows of course! Wait...HUH?
Oh boy....in a recent survey the Innovation Center for U.S. Dairy asked 1000 adults "Where does chocolate milk come from?". 7% of the people (remember, these are adults) that responded said that chocolate milk comes from....yup.....BROWN cows. That's 70 adults who walk among us.
But that's not all...48% of those adults said they don't know for sure WHERE chocolate milk comes from. That's 480 adults that walk among us, and drive, and vote, and...
Look, I don't mean to make fun, but really? REALLY? I learned at a very early age how to make chocolate milk. Remember this? "N-E-S-T-L-E-S...Nestles makes the very best...chocolate...." It sounds a little bit like a jingle Charlie Harper may have written.
I just know as a kid that we always had a container of Nestle's Quick chocolate powder in our cupboard.
Remember how you'd stir and stir and stir...and no matter what...there was always a dark ring of chocolate around the bottom of the glass? Ugh...all that chocolate goodness sitting there...out of reach....so frustrating!
When blenders became common in every kitchen that became "chocolate milk magic!" Nothing could whip up a big glass of chocolate milk like that! So smooth, so foamy...so....so GOOD! AND...no chocolate ring at the bottom of the glass!
Sorry to be a myth buster folks....but chocolate milk doesn't come from brown cows...
I can hear all of the members of the Idaho Dairy Council laughing...can't you?
