‘Urban Oasis’ Coming to Downtown Boise
Have you heard of Freak Alley? It's a little piece of downtown Boise that is overflowing with beautiful artwork all over the walls of hundred-year-old buildings created by local artists. It's also a place that holds a special place in my heart. It's the place where my husband and I eloped! We love art and wanted to pick a place to say 'I do' that was anything but a courthouse. So, Freak Alley, it was. I love that Boise has these cool spaces all around town where people can go and enjoy the artwork and the company of their friends, that's why news of more spaces like this one being planned makes me so happy.
That's right, just across the street in the alleyway between 8th and Capitol, another 'urban oasis' concept is being worked on. According to KTVB, the Union Block alley will get a little facelift to include seating, artwork, and even a small plaza. Apparently, it will even be a place to hold concerts or even catch a movie! Restaurants in the area are also getting in on the excitement teasing that they may even create some outdoor eating areas in the alleyway.
I'm sooooo excited about this, mostly because these types of outdoor spaces are what makes Boise and the Treasure Valley so special. And we don't have to wait very long to check this place out. According to KTVB construction will start this week and be completed next Spring.
