Today is National Just Because Day. HUh? yeah that was my initial reaction too. How did this day come to be? According to national day calendar "In the late 1950s, Joseph J. Goodwin of Los Gatos, California, created Just Because Day. It began as a family holiday and grew into an annual celebration across the United States."

At first I thought... well this is kind of weird but then it hit me. This National day was created well ahead of it's time. If you stop and think about all the peer pressure and the social media shaming that we see on the daily this holiday is much needed. In my eyes this is a great opportunity to relieve yourself of all the social pressures and do whatever you want to do... "Just because". Imagine doing whatever you feel like doing and not needing a reason to do so.

Actually what a lot of people don't realize is that we're already there. For the most part there is no need to justify anything to anyone. Try it, I'm sure you will find it liberating. Having said that here are a few things you should do in Boise "just because".

1. Go to a BSU Football game. If you've never been you have to go, think about it, the Smurf turf is famous and something that Boise is known for. Go "just because" you can.

2. Ride The Glade Runner - Idaho's only mountain coaster. Not every city has a mountain roller coaster and not every city has one only 13 miles from downtown Boise. So If you haven't done so yet... do it... "just because".

3. Tour The Greenbelt - There are some locals that have never been on the Boise Greenbelt. Jump on a bike and make it a mission to ride the Greenbelt from one end to another. Do it with a friend and you can park a car on either end that way you only ride it one way.
