Having moved to the Treasure Valley in the past year, I understand that my opinion on matters such as this may not carry much weight, but sometimes a new perspective is exactly what's needed. It is only because of that reason that I am writing this. I also know that people can be easily offended when someone new comes in with all kinds of crazy opinions. I mean no offense when I say this, but I feel like if I don't say it, no one else will, and nothing will ever change. It takes the one person that is willing to speak their mind, and then others will follow on the correct path or street in this case.

Okay, here goes. Cities of Boise, Meridian, Nampa, and Eagle, why do you insist on building roundabouts? Growing up, the crazy and evil phenomenon known as the roundabout was reserved for European countries like England, where I'm not sure drivers training is even offered. I think they give you a license and hope for the best.

Because this roundabout concept is so foreign to us in Idaho, this causes significant stress for drivers as they drive on them. Am I in the right lane? Can I turn from the left lane? Is that person headed towards me going to yield, or are they going to crash into me? These are the questions that I ask myself every time I drive on one. I don' know why the Treasure Valley feels that these are better than a standard traffic light with our three favorite colors, green, yellow red directing our paths, but it must be about money. Anytime anyone does anything that may sacrifice public safety, it's usually about money. I'm sure that it's cheaper to install a roundabout instead of a traffic light. There is the electricity and other stuff I'm sure that drives the installation price up, but I don't know anyone that prefers a roundabout to a light.

Please spend a little more money to do it right and install regular, plain traffic lights in your next master-planned community.
