Why Is “Go Back To California” Such a Popular Idaho Insult?
"Go back to California," "stay in California," and "move back to California" have flooded the comment section in a Facebook post that I recently shared about an article called "Here's Why Angry Californian Hates Idaho In Loathing Review."
Is "Go back to California" the ultimate Idaho insult?
It's a comment that has flooded social media since the invasion of outsiders. Even if they aren't from California, "go back to California" has been a go-to for people online who are upset about something or what someone has said.
If you have ever told someone to "go back to California" as an insult, I think you're missing the mark. There are a lot of worse places to go than California. Visiting California is fantastic. There are excellent beaches, restaurants, and plenty to do, like Disneyland.
So, if "go back to California" is your go-to insult, you may need to move on from that. For example, did you know an actual website sells "go back to California" merch? They have t-shirts, hats, and stickers. So I can't blame them for trying to take advantage of the situation and make some money. They haven't posted anything recently on their Instagram, so I don't know how well it's going.
Worse places to go other than California include Syria, Snake Island in Brazil, Sahel, North Africa, and the list goes on. I don't think anyone's feelings are being hurt when someone says, "go back to California."
It's a bummer that some people can give Californians a bad reputation.
