Some of us had our travel plans Saturday night turn into a major inconvenience when out of nowhere I-84 was shut down and if you were trying to get out of downtown Boise onto the connector, that was happening either.

At first I thought there was some huge wreck after seeing all the cop cars diverting drivers into all sorts of different areas and don't get me wrong, there were a number of wrecks yesterday after getting all that snow and then temperatures dropping to create that invisible demon called Black Ice but authorities weren't shutting down these areas because of big wrecks that had happened... they were shutting them down to prevent big wrecks from happening.

Idaho State Troopers had been responding to several accidents, slide-offs, and wrecks throughout the day and as the temperatures started to drop things only got worse.  So I-84 was blocked off in both directions between Exit 60 and Exit 90 which is the stretch of freeway between Mountain Home and Boise.  This lasted for a couple of hours but it was the I-184 connector into and out of downtown Boise that had a lot of people a bit perturbed.

They must have re-opened it just after I needed when headed out to The Buffalo Club because according to KTVB this area was shut down from about 7:30 to 9 p.m. last night.  The risk was just too high with so much black ice on those overpasses.
