Zoo Boise Helps Table Rock

Their donation is HUGE, and will definitely help the restoration efforts.

Boise Mayor David Bieter announced this morning that Zoo Boise will be contributing $100,000 to help with the restoration efforts at Table Rock after a fire claimed 2,500 acres and a family's home last week.

The money comes from a conservation fund set up to protect animals and their habitats here in Idaho. It's generated from a portion of admission prices and attractions at Zoo Boise. Since 2007, about $2 million dollars have been donated from that fund.

Zoo Boise Director, Steve Burns says this donation is one they're happy to make:

“I think it's really important that people understand that when they come to the zoo they are directly helping animals in the wild,” said Burns. “Their visit directly translates in the conservation of animals in the wild and the good news is in this case those animals live just right up the street.”

Officials say to completely restore Table Rock, it's going to take several years; but they hope to get the burn mark cured within a year.
