It's easy to love Idaho, but there are a few things that irk us about living in the Gem State.

Here's 5 Things You Hate If You Live in Idaho

1. Nothing is open 24/7!!

I have yet to see a McDonald's that is open all night, a grocery store that's open all the time, and the only place Rick and I have found to get breakfast at 4am is Del Taco. When you're up in the middle of the night, it can be a rough state to live in!

2. It gets Super Hot and Super Cold

I remember the first week we moved here last August temperatures reached 106 degrees! On the opposite end of the spectrum, it can get crazy bone chilling cold! My parents paid a visit between Christmas and  New Years and it was hard to be outside for more than 60 seconds even with a coat on!

3. Minimum Wage

Idaho has one of the lower minimum wage rates in the country. California is at $10 compared to us at $7.25, but the cost of living here is also much cheaper than Cali. Regardless, it doesn't look like the minimum wage rate will be going up significantly any time soon.

4. Stereotypes about Idahoans

How many times have we heard potato jokes, or talked to people who think all there is in Idaho is farmland? Let's not forget the people that mix up Idaho with Iowa!! What?!!?

5. Education

So far I've been completely happy with the education system here. At least I haven't noticed a huge difference between the education in Utah (where we came from) and Idaho. If anything I feel like my kids work harder here, but Idaho does have a reputation for having one of the worst K-12 education systems in the country and studies show 4 out every 5 Idaho teens aren't prepared for life post high school.
