Adopting A Pet in Boise: Zizly’s Story
I'm ready to add a furry friend to my life, but the journey has not been easy.
I've been very open about my life these last few months, and if you've been following along, you probably already know that I had to say good to my amazing, beautiful pup (son), Whiskey.
When I finally came to terms with the reality, I knew I wanted another furry friend in my life, and I knew I wanted to adopt. So the search began. But, to be perfectly honest, it's been a tough, emotional roller coaster...but I wouldn't have had it any other way.
At the beginning of the process I was interested in adopting a cute little guy from the Idaho Humane Society's IDAPI program, where offenders from the local prison system train and care for dogs so they can be adopted. I fell in love with a little guy named, Griffin.
So I went through the application process, and unfortunately was not picked to take Griffin home. I was crushed. But I continued to search.
About a week later, I found a beautiful pointer mix named, Shasta at the Idaho Humane Society. I called the moment they opened and asked about her....she was still available!! By the time I got down to their facility, she'd been adopted. Again.....I was crushed.
I was beginning to think I'd never find a pup, then started thinking about my boy, Whiskey. He was perfect. So after I stopped moping around. I kept looking.
With a little luck I found a gorgeous girl named Gracie from Fuzzy Paws Rescue. I fell in love!! So again, went through the adoption application process; but this time was different. Fuzzy Paws is selective in their humans, so they needed to do a home check. I was so ready!
It went well, and now I'm one step closer to bringing Gracie girl home. Send me some good vibes...if all goes well, I'll have a new buddy come Sunday!!
