He cut through siding in the shower area and then jumped a 10-foot fence with razor wire at the top to get out of the Canyon County Jail.

Escapes have been an ongoing problem especially in the tent facility which is minimum security.  37-year-old Eric Garcia was caught almost as quickly as he escaped but it brings up questions again of how to stop all these jail breaks.

According to KTVB the Canyon County Jail had a total of eight escapes in 2016 and it doesn't look like much has been done to deter inmates from taking that chance.  It keeps happening.  One positive is that every inmate that escaped was re-captured.

Garcia is serving time for felony domestic battery with traumatic injury, felony attempted strangulation, and a felony parole violation.  He now has additional charges pending because of the escape.  Garcia was re-captured about 11:15 a.m. this morning so he is not at large.
