Do You Have It Takes? Boise Fire Is Hiring Soon!
Most of us have had "rough days" at work. It could be due to a variety of inconveniences, a personality clash with a coworker, or not hitting a quota. As rough as those days might be, they pale in comparison to what first responders might encounter on a standard call.
Would you be able to handle the duties of a Boise firefighter?
Boise Fire Department Announces Hiring Date
If you're willing to put the work in and make an impact on our community, the Boise Fire Department is for you.
According to the City of Boise, the Boise Fire Department will begin accepting applicants for entry level firefighters on August 1st and will stop accepting applicants on September 30th.
As you probably know, applying for the gig of a firefighter is not the same as applying for a typical 9 to 5. It's somewhat of a lengthy process that begins with a written exam and application online from August 1st through September 30th.

Once all of that is completed, the top performers from the written exam stage will be invited to partake in the physical fitness test, which will take place December 8th-13th.
If you fail the fitness test, you're out. If you pass, you'll have your oral interview the following day at the Fire Training Center. If you perform well in your oral interview, you'll need to complete the necessary pre-employment screening tasks, like a drug test and physical.
Boise Fire says they will begin onboarding new recruits on January 9, 2026.
