Boise Police Chief Announces Retirement

After 27 years with the Boise Police Department, Chief William "Bill" Bones will retire next month.

Boise Mayor Dave Bieter released a statement saying,

Chief Bones has served the residents of Boise with honor and distinction over his entire career. Our city is one of the safest in the nation, in part, because of Bill's authentic leadership and the trust and compassion he brought to his daily work. As a result, Boiseans believe in the department, its officers and their hard work as they never have.

While Bill was with the Boise Police Department for 27 years, he served as Police Chief for the past 4 years. According to an article on KTVB, he is being credited with bringing the crime rate in Boise to the lowest it has been in the past 25 years, which is quite an accomplishment.
