Police Chief of Emmett Involved In Car Crash With Semi-Truck
The crash involving Emmett Police Chief Gary Shelhing this afternoon is being investigated by the Idaho State Police.
Just after 1 p.m. Thursday afternoon, Shelhing was at the intersection of St. Johns Avenue and Highway 16 in Emmett. 51-year-old Kenneth Myers struck Shelhing from behind in a 2000 Freighliner semi-truck that was also pulling a trailer.
Shelhing was immediately taken to Saint Alphonsus in Boise with non life-threatening injuries. Shelhing's police K-9 was with him in the vehicle and is currently at a veterinary hospital with unknown injuries.
No charges have been filed and the investigation is ongoing.
