It ended with a 38-year-old man dead and a man from Fruitland in jail after an altercation outside a restaurant in Ontario, Oregon.

According to KTVB, the shooting happened Sunday morning at about 10:30 at the Los Potrillos restaurant on NW 1st Street.

The identity of the 38-year-old victim has not been released, but police say he is from Portland.

An argument between the man from Portland and the man from Fruitland started inside the restaurant and spilled out into the parking lot.

The suspect, 41-year-old Jaime Anthony Escobedo, sped off in his Ford truck. After losing sight of him at the city limits they called off the pursuit until he was spotted a couple hours later and eventually taken into custody near I-84 and Sand Hollow Road.

Escobedo has been booked into the Payette County Jail.

Please keep everyone involved in this terrible turn of events in your thoughts and prayers. Situations like this always seem particularly tragic around the holidays.
