Tragic Accidental Shooting at George Nourse Gun Range Claims Life of Nampa Man
Canyon County, ID – A sad and tragic incident marred the Fourth of July weekend when an accidental shooting claimed the life of a young man at the George Nourse Gun Range south of Nampa. On July 5, 2024, around 5:00 p.m., the Canyon County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) responded to an emergency call reporting an accidental discharge of a firearm.

Upon arrival, CCSO deputies discovered a 26-year-old male, identified as Evan Michael Chase of Nampa, who had been shot in the abdomen. The incident occurred when another male was attempting to unload a rifle, and it accidentally discharged. Despite immediate life-saving efforts performed on the scene, Chase tragically succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
Sheriff Kieran Donahue expressed his condolences, stating, “This was a tragic incident that sadly took the life of a young man over this past Fourth of July weekend. My heart goes out to his family and friends. Unfortunately, it also serves as a grim reminder of how deadly firearms can be and why they should always be handled with the utmost care.”
