Police in Fruitland responded to a bizarre call yesterday, but thankfully, no one was hurt. If the situation had played out any other way, it could have been really bad.

Law Enforcement Responds To Call Of An Explosive Device

According to a report from the Argus Observer, Fruitland police were called by a security guard at St. Luke's when the guard found "knives and two grenades" in a backpack.

The backpack belonged to a man who was at the hospital receiving medical treatment.

It's probably a shocking and disturbing feeling to discover grenades in any scenario, but imagine you find these explosive devices inside a hospital. That has to be absolutely terrifying.

It was then reported that the Nampa Bomb Squad was called in to inspect the explosive devices. Luckily, a few of the officers working for Fruitland also happened to have military experience, which helped them realize these "pineapple grenades" were not actually grenades at all.

As it turns out, the "grenades" were simply replicas.

Why Would Someone Bring Replica Grenades Into A Hospital?

Surely, there has to be a good reason for someone to carry around replica grenades, right? Maybe it's a part of the costume, or maybe it's part of an exhibit?

We can't figure out why someone would be carrying those around, especially into a hospital, but hey, different strokes for different folks, right?

We came across several social media posts about the incident, with people questioning the police presence and blocked roads, so the incident definitely impacted the community.

Do you think bringing replica grenades into a hospital should be a punishable offense? Let us know your thoughts HERE.
