He leads the city of Middleton and refused to step down even after the council members asked him to resign. Now, the domestic battery charges against him have been dropped.

Mayor Darin Taylor stood accused of grabbing his wife and pinching her upper left arm as she tried to leave the house during an argument. According to an article on idahonews.com, Taylor's sister-in-law claimed the domestic violence had been going on for years and that a week prior to the arm pinching incident he had grabbed her by the throat and walked her down the hallway until she fell down.

Taylor made a statement saying the events were sobering and unexpected and he did issue an apology for the embarrassment.

A motion to dismiss the charges against Taylor was issued May 1, 2019, and the domestic battery charges have been officially dismissed. Taylor will continue his duties as mayor of Middleton.
