Drunk Driver Arrested After Leading Police on Chase
Drunk driving has proven to be a pretty big problem in our community lately and now we have another arrest after a man led police on chase. We're still reeling in the Treasure Valley after three little girls were killed by a drunk driver just a few weeks ago and apparently people never learn because this man refused to pull over police yesterday in his drunken state.
The chase started at 4:53 p.m. yesterday as Oscar C. Moreno was headed westbound on I-84. He was driving what is being described as a silver Acura and was traveling at various speeds according to an article on KTVB that details the situation.
Police tried to pull Moreno over near the Broadway exit, and although he briefly complied, he took off as the officer approached his vehicle.
Moreno ended up hitting a Ford F-150 truck, then continued on the freeway and eventually got off the Vista exit.
In order to get Moreno to stop, troopers rammed his car using a PIT maneuver which put his car into a spin. It took two PIT maneuvers to finally get Oscar to stop and even at that point he was not about to give up.
Moreno jumped out of his car and took off on foot, but he was caught a short distance away.
Oscar is due to appear in court today. He was booked into the Ada County Jail on multiple charges including excessive DUI.
Please don't drink and drive. I don't know what it is going to take to get our world to take this seriously, but it has to stop.
