Do you like raking leaves?  I'm not a fan!  Experts say the practice of leaf raking clogs up landfills and eliminates wildlife habitat.

National Wildlife Federation say's yard waste accounts for 33 million tons of landfill waste. Once in a landfill, leaves break down and release methane, a greenhouse gas that contributes to climate change.  Fall foliage is delivered to dumps in plastic bags often, which takes years to break down.

Raking leaves can disrupt natural habitats as well, since insects and amphibians look to leaf litter to provide food, shelter and nesting material. Fallen leaves have advantages. Leaves form a natural mulch helps suppress weeds and fertilizes the soil as it breaks down. No need to spend money on fertilizer and mulch!  So if you feel guilty for not loving leaf raking...hooray you don't have to!
