Nampa just became the recipient of a very cool program that helps kids see police officers as friendly not scary and it keeps the kids out of trouble!

It's called "Hoopes Not Crime" and the program aims to give kids, especially in high-risk situations a positive view of police.

"Hoopes Not Crime" was started by a Gainsville, Florida police officer named Bobby White who was able to get Shaquille O'Neal to play with a group of local boys he met. The experience spawned the idea for the program which donates basketball hoopes and balls to under privileged communities.

Nampa gained the programs attention after this Facebook video of some Nampa Police officers playing basketball with kids scored 1.2 million views.

The new hoop was placed at the Karcher Mobile Home Park and over 20 officers showed up last night to play ball with the kids! For more information on this story click HERE.
