Idaho City Is An Excellent Weekend Getaway And Not Far From Boise
If you're looking to get out of town without going very far from the Treasure Valley, you will need to find yourself in Idaho City. My wife and I went to Idaho City for an evening trip to get away and experience something other than the capital city. Being within walking distance of everything, we stayed at the Gold Mine Hotel, and let me tell you, it was such a great experience. We stayed in one of their cabins, and it was perfect for the two of us. We were able to walk to different establishments throughout the town and check out all the history that Idaho City has.
Located next door to the Gold Mine Grill & Saloon, we stepped outside our cabin and into the saloon to find ourselves surrounded by locals who treated us like we'd been neighbors for years. The building has been around since the 1960s and has always been a bar, restaurant, or both. With live music almost every weekend, the Gold Mine Grill & Saloon is a hub in Idaho City for entertainment, giving local musicians a stage to share their talents. During the winter months, they play music every Saturday inside. In the warmer months, their huge patio is open with music on the trailer park stage on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
Check out the Gold Mine Grill & Saloon's Facebook page to stay up to date on what's happening. The food is fantastic and something people continue to talk about it. It's like going to a friend's house and knowing you'll be eating well.
As soon as you step into the Gold Mine Grill & Saloon, you're greeted with a smile and a warm welcome from one of the servers or bartenders, who is also there to get you checked into your hotel room. Once you get settled, there's a great chance of Steve or Steve coming to your table to check on you. They are the owners and will treat you like you're the only person in the establishment. Steve will entertain you for hours with a Coors light or Pendleton in his hand. He will share with you the rich history of Idaho City as he and the community try to keep Idaho City thriving.
