When you decide to purchase a vehicle, you're looking for more than a way to commute around town. You're essentially looking for your second home and some people take that decision very seriously.

Sure, you're going to make your purchase based on how the vehicle does on fuel, maintenance cost, comfort, collision history, etc... but there's also a chance that you're buying based on how people will perceive you.

Status symbols are very real

Whether we like to admit it or not, some of us care about how people perceive us. We show this behavior when shopping for clothes, getting our hair done, and heck, even when we're shopping for a home.

We all know that we shouldn't care what people think but we do... especially when shopping for a car.

This begs the question: what vehicles do Idahoans view as status symbols?

Do Idaho drivers care about driving a "high-status" vehicle?

Apparently, they do according to a survey of 2,029 Americans. This survey revealed which cars Idaho drivers view as their "dream car make" and the vehicles they view as "high status."

Interestingly enough, Ford is the "dream car make" in Idaho while Lamborghini is the most "commonly seen high-status car."

But which car brand do Idaho drivers purchase to be seen as "high status"?

The infamous Tesla.

There's a lot of controversy surrounding Teslas and evidence of that can be found all over social media in Idaho. Take the Facebook group, "Boise - Bad Driver Spotted" for example: if someone calls out someone doing something "bad" on the road, it's one thing.

But, if they're driving a Tesla? The comment section lights up like a Christmas tree.

Don't worry, not everyone feels like Tesla is a "high-status" vehicle

Before the Tesla haters lose their minds, this stat should make them feel a little bit better: 41% of those surveyed didn't feel electric vehicles are typically high-status.
