As we celebrate Veteran's Day this weekend, the Idaho National Guard will be under prestigious new leadership.

Governor Butch Otter and members of the Idaho National Guard met at Gowen Field on Sunday to celebrate with a change of command ceremony. Their new commanding general? Brig. Gen. Michael Garshak, recipient of the Meritorious Service Medal, the Air Medal, the Army Commendation Medal and the Army Achievement Medal.

It's a big role for Garshak, as he'll answer to Governor Otter as his senior military adviser. He'll be in command of the Idaho Air National Guard and Army, as well oversee the Idaho Bureau of Homeland Security.

What better way to honor America's military veterans than to welcome a distinguished veteran to a new post? Brig. Gen. Garshak, we salute you.
