Idaho Target Job Perk, College Tuition and Textbooks Paid For
Getting employees and employees that will stay is serious struggle among many, many businesses across the country. From big corporations to small family owned establishments, Idaho is short staffed, period. Target is doing what they can to combat staff shortages by offering a pretty massive perk.
My sister is in the Navy, currently stationed in Japan. There were many reasons she wanted to join the Navy and having her college tuition paid for was certainly one big enticing incentive. Now the red and khaki crew are getting the same incentive.
Target just announced a new education program. For full time OR part time employees Target will 100% cover the cost of associate and undergraduate degrees at select schools for over 250 programs aligned to it's business. They are even going to cover text books which are still -stupid- expensive. If you stick with the company and want to continue school, Target will even help pay for graduate school costs.
According to Fox Business, More than 340,000 Target employees will now receive education assistance. That is a massive investment for the company and a huge cut out of their bottom line. Desperate times call for desperate measures though. To attract and retain good employees Target is taking the jump. Walmart, Chipotle and Starbucks offer similar debt-free education programs.
According to CNBC, the assistance stretches from Target stores to distribution centers and headquarters. Employees will qualify on their first day. Target will invest $200 million in the education program over the next four years.
